Turning the burger into a healthy power punch of a meal.
lentils are so good for you and this is a great tasty way to get them in your diet.
1 Cup brown lentils
1 Onion sliced and diced
1 Garlic Clove finely grated
2 Tbsp Nutritional yeast
2 Tbsp Corn flour
1 Tsp sesame seeds
1 Red pepper sliced and diced
11/2 Tsp paprika
1 Tsp Chilli flakes
1 Tsp Dried oregano
1 Tsp cumin
1 Tsp Garam masala
Place the lentils in a pan and cover with water. Bring to the boil and allow to cook until the lentils are soft and mushy.
Drain the lentils and allow the excess water to drain through the colander.
Place the lentils into a bowl and mash with a potato masher.
Once mashed add in all the other ingredients and stir to combine.
With your hands scoop out a large handful of mixture and roll into a ball. Place the ball on a lined baking tray and then gently flatten the top of the ball with your hand to make a burger shape.
In a frying pan add some oil. When the oil is hot add the lentil burger and fry for approximately 5 minutes before turning it over to cook the other side for a further 5 minutes.
When the burger is cooked place in a bread roll with lettuce and tomatoes. I used my avocado mayo which is on my blog or you could use vegan mayonnaise. Serve with sweet potato fries, potato wedges, salad, entirely your choice.
